The real question is not “What is low sperm count?” It is “What should I do next?”

This page is built for men who already have a semen analysis and diagnosis. What you need now is for the report to be interpreted in context and converted into a realistic treatment plan.

1Is there a reversible or important cause that has not been addressed?
2Is Ayurveda appropriate in my case, and what can it realistically support?
3How will progress be measured, and when should I move to urology or fertility treatment?

The care team understands your concern and connects you with a suitable senior doctor.

STEP 03

Your prescription, your choice: UWAY does not manufacture medicines. You may buy prescribed medicines from a trusted local Ayurveda pharmacy or request courier support. There is no compulsory medicine package.
The role of Ayurveda

What can an Ayurveda-based plan include?

Ayurveda may be used as supportive, individualised care after the diagnosis, severity and possible causes are considered. The plan is not chosen from the condition name alone.

Depending on the case, the doctor may prescribe classical Ayurveda formulations and advise changes related to food, sleep, weight, tobacco or alcohol use, heat or occupational exposure, stress and other relevant factors.

UWAY does not promise a particular increase in sperm count, pregnancy, or avoidance of IVF/ICSI. Progress is reviewed clinically and with repeat investigations when appropriate.

What responsible treatment means

✓The complete semen report is considered—not only the count
✓Current medicines, supplements and testosterone use are reviewed
✓No stopping prescribed treatment without medical advice
✓No delay in urology, endocrinology, genetic or fertility referral when required
✓No guaranteed-result claims
Who should consult

Is this consultation suitable for you?

A UWAY consultation may help if:

  • You already have one or more abnormal semen analyses
  • You have tried supplements or treatment without enough clarity
  • You want an Ayurveda opinion alongside conventional fertility care
  • You need help understanding what to investigate next
  • You prefer confidential online consultation

Do not delay specialist investigation if:

  • No sperm are seen in the report (azoospermia)
  • The sperm concentration is very low or marked “severe”
  • There is testicular pain, swelling, a lump or major size difference
  • There is a history of undescended testis, cancer treatment or testicular surgery
  • Your fertility specialist has advised urgent ART because time is a factor
Understanding the diagnosis

What does oligozoospermia mean?

Oligozoospermia, also commonly called oligospermia or low sperm count, means the sperm concentration in a semen sample is below the commonly used reference range. It is a semen-analysis finding—not a complete fertility diagnosis.

The commonly used lower reference value is approximately 16 million sperm per mL. The complete report also includes total sperm number, motility, morphology, semen volume and other observations. A low count does not make natural conception impossible, and a normal count does not guarantee conception.

01

Varicocele or testicular factors

Past injury, undescended testis, infection, varicocele or impaired sperm production may contribute.

02

Hormonal or medicine-related factors

Hormonal disorders, testosterone treatment, anabolic steroids and some medicines can affect production.

03

Genetic or obstructive causes

Severe oligozoospermia and azoospermia can require genetic and specialist evaluation.

04

Metabolic and lifestyle health

Obesity, smoking, heavy alcohol use and selected environmental exposures may be relevant.

05

Sexual and ejaculatory concerns

Erectile, ejaculatory or relationship factors may also affect the couple’s chance of conception.

06

Unexplained male infertility

Sometimes no single cause is identified even after appropriate assessment.

Important medical boundary

When further investigation should not wait

Abnormal semen findings may sometimes be the first sign of a wider testicular, hormonal, genetic or general-health issue. Severe oligozoospermia or azoospermia needs a proper medical work-up—not only supplements or online remedies.

  • An abnormal first semen analysis is often confirmed with another sample.
  • Two abnormal analyses may lead to physical examination and hormone evaluation.
  • Very low counts can require urology/andrology and genetic assessment.
  • The female partner’s age and fertility findings affect how much time is available for treatment.

Sudden severe testicular pain is an emergency and requires immediate medical care.

Direct answers

Frequently asked questions about low sperm count treatment

What should I do after being diagnosed with oligozoospermia?
Arrange a specialist review of the full semen analysis, not only the sperm concentration. Bring previous reports, treatment details, medicines and relevant hormone or scan results. Severe abnormalities may need prompt urological or genetic evaluation.
Can Ayurveda treat low sperm count?
Ayurveda may be used as supportive, individualised care after the cause and severity are assessed. UWAY does not guarantee a particular rise in sperm count or pregnancy. Necessary urology, endocrinology, genetic or fertility treatment should not be delayed.
How long does treatment for low sperm count take?
Sperm production and maturation take time, so meaningful review is generally measured in months rather than days. The doctor will advise when a repeat semen analysis is clinically appropriate based on severity, previous results and the treatment plan.
Can low sperm count be cured permanently?
There is no single answer. Some reversible causes can improve when identified and treated, while genetic, testicular or unexplained causes may not be fully reversible. The first objective is to identify what is realistically treatable in your case.
Can I avoid IVF or ICSI with Ayurveda?
No responsible doctor can promise this. Some couples may have time to try medically supervised treatment, while others should not delay assisted reproduction because of very low counts, the female partner’s age or other fertility factors.
Should I repeat my semen analysis?
An abnormal first result is often confirmed with another test. The timing depends on the result. If azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia is reported, confirmation and specialist assessment may be advised sooner.
What reports should I share with UWAY?
Share your latest and previous semen analyses, prescriptions, hormone tests such as FSH and testosterone if available, ultrasound or Doppler reports, and records of previous fertility treatment. Do not delay the enquiry if you have only the semen report.
Is the consultation confidential?
Yes. Male fertility and sexual-health concerns are handled privately. You can initially speak to the UWAY care team on WhatsApp or request a callback before booking the specialist consultation.
