Back pain can be of sudden onset as a result of a fall or lifting something heavy, or it can develop over a period of time as you age or even due to consistent poor postures while standing or sitting. Lack of exercise, obesity, smoking, stress too are linked to back pain.
Common causes of back pain:
- Muscle or ligament strain: caused by lifting heavy weights or repetitive motion at work or while playing sports, accidents etc. can cause back pain.
- Herniated disk: Herniated disk, which also known as slipped, ruptured or bulging disk is one of the most common causes of neck, back and leg pain.
- Arthritis: Arthritis can occur anywhere along the spine, but is more frequent in the lower back and neck, causing stiffness and low back pain.
- Osteoporosis: Osteoporosis is the thinning and weakening of the bones leading to back pain.

Symptoms:

The major cause of back pain is compressed nerve, herniated disc, muscle injury, narrowing of the spinal canal, age related osteoporosis, tuberculosis of the spine and fractures of the spinal cord due to trauma. Except for back pain due to fractures & TB spine, all the other back pains can be treated effectively at UWAY.
